Position Summary:

Under general direction from the Facilities Supervisor, responsible for the day-to-day repairs and maintenance on all Casino kitchen/Refrigeration equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various commercial appliances like ovens, ranges, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other food service equipment.
  • Install new commercial appliances, equipment while ensuring proper functioning, and safety.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on commercial appliances to extend their lifespan and prevent breakdowns.
  • Order and maintain parts and supplies, ensuring a sufficient inventory for repairs.
  • Adhere to industry standards and regulations, including refrigerant handling and disposal.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, provide accurate estimates and offer solutions for appliance issues.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures when working with equipment and chemicals.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance and parts used.
  • Read and follow kitchen/Refrigeration equipment control and power schematics.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all kitchen/Refrigeration equipment and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and repair motors, motor control systems and kitchen exhaust fans systems.
  • Assist in the training of fellow employees in the kitchen/Refrigeration equipment repair trade.
  • Assist all other engineering and maintenance employees in performing the engineering functions as needed.
  • Monitor and repair propane associated equipment and/or systems.
  • Maintain and update as built drawings.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Direct Reports:  None.

Access to Sensitive Areas: All areas related to HVAC and Food & Beverage Kitchen areas.

Signatory Authority: None. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent, unless waived by Human Resources Management.  Three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial kitchen equipment, including but not limited to propane stoves, ovens, deep fryers, hot boxes, dishwashing machines and all types of steamers.  Must have the ability to troubleshoot propane pressure problems and adjust regulators using the property adjustment equipment.  Must have the ability to maintain and repair as required propane, water and hot water distribution systems.  Prior experience in ice machine repairs and maintenance a plus.  Experience in the control of kitchen equipment and replacement parts stock and purchasing preferred.  Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license. 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the methods and practices used in appliance repair work.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
  • Skill in the safe operation of power tools and shop equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors and other appliance equipment.
  • Ability to install and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace and test appliance equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Ability to communicate, read, and write clearly in basic English.
  • Ability to demonstrate outstanding guest service at all times.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish tasks within strict deadlines.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to 50-100 pounds. Requires ability to climb ladders and have stamina for constant walking, bending, stooping, reaching and pushing of medium to heavy weight items and equipment on a regular basis. Ability to work off ladders, powered lifts and scaffolding to 25 feet.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the work environment is noisy and employee will work indoors and outdoors; work performed in areas which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky and dimly lit, and maneuver outside in temperatures in excess of 115° and as cold as 15° (exposed to all weather conditions). Additionally, the employee will be exposed to cigarette smoke.
