Table Mountain Rancheria in Friant, California has an immediate opening for a Controller to assist the Director of Finance in the Accounting Department of Table Mountain Rancheria. Job Summary:

Assists the Director of Finance on all financial activities of the organization. Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements. Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings
  • Reviews the financial status and progress of the organization in its various programs and activities
  • Assists with the managing the annual budget process
  • Advises the Director of Finance of desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions
  • Assists with audits of governmental accounts
  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Assists in facilitating day-to-day operations, including tracking financial data, invoicing, payroll, etc.
  • Maintains budgeting and forecasting models
  • Evaluates accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
  • Develops and monitors business performance metrics
  • Maintains a policy and procedures manual for the accounting department
  • May sit as Trustee of the Tribe’s Pension Plan

Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists the Director of Finance as needed with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting unless otherwise waived by Tribal Council as based on determined experience and accomplishments
  • Certified Public Accountant
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years related experience as well as other relevant education or work experience
